While organizing my desk, I came across one of my guide books from the late 1980s for collecting watches. Patek Philippe watches were still very pricey, especially the complications. Rolex sport models in stainless steel were a bargain as were Omegas. The book was published before the dramatic increase in pricing for both Rolex and Omega sports models, especially Submariners, GMTs, Explorer 2s, Daytonas, and Speedmasters. The prices you see below the watches are the recommended prices for the late 1980s to buy that particular watch, unless watches are photographed in an old advertisement then prices are in white box and original manufacturer prices are listed by description of the watch. Also included are advertisements, so you can get a feel how watches were bought and sold prior to the internet, and I found in the book a few photographs of some of the watches I owned at the time. Hope you enjoy a small step back in time.
