Hi, I am interested as the title suggests if the crown on the Omega SMP 2551.80 is push-pull does it mean that the watch is fake? Could it be changed? Never saw this problem. Thanks for the replays.

Also want to add that I tried to find out some info on the issue but I could not find a similar thread so it can also be useful for other members. 馃榾

This should be a screw down crown. If you want to know if the watch is fake, post clear photos from all sides of the watch, and post the serial number.

There's also the possibility that a not-so-caring watchmaker replaced the original screw-in crown and threaded tube with a standard waterproof crown and standard non-threaded tube. Which would be a strong facepalm moment, but the rest of the watch could still be original. Pictures will help

That serial number corresponds to the correct model.

Serial number: 60152759
Article ref: 25518000

The watch appears to be genuine based on the photos. Not sure if the threads are just stripped ion the crown, or if someone has made a modification - to determine that you need to seek out a watchmaker who is familiar with these - one that has an Omega parts account would be ideal.

+1 looks original, so will probably just need a new crown/tube

OP, is your Helium Escape Valve (HEV) crown at the 10 O'clock position also a pull-out? As far as i'm aware both the crowns should be replaced during a service; I wonder if you're seeing the same issue for that one too.

Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of the movement... Is it possible that the movement is swapped and that is the reason for the not screw-down crown? Why would anyone do that? ...

No, that is unrelated to the movement.

No, that is unrelated to the movement.
So it is repairable - just to put there new original screw.

A new case tube and crown would likely repair this.
