I recently acquired this Omega and am looking for help in identifying it. The serial number is 15694596, which I believe puts its production year at 1957. The case number is 3477698. I believe the caliber is 501, at least that is stamped on the movement. On the outside of the case it says it is gold filled, although due to wear I cannot tell if it is 10k or 18k, I suspect it is 10. I would be really grateful for any suggestions and thoughts from all you Omega sleuths out there. Thank you.

A photo of the inside of the case back would help.

Star Watch Case Company was an American firm who produced watch cases from the early 1900s until sometime in the 1980s and are known to have made cases for Omega.

Due to import tariffs raw movements were sent by Swiss manufactures to be cased (finished) in local markets.

This is one of those watches.

That is very interesting. So it is not really a specific model at all I guess.

That would be correct. Many Omega watches do not have a specific model designation, regardless of where they were cased.

Based on what it says inside the back, the watch is 10K gold filled. Since it is worn through in many areas, it will require significant work to restore. This will not be cheap.

Given the information relating to it's provenance, I don't think it would be wise to spend too much on an extensive renovation as I think I would be spending much more than its actual value. On that note, if I were ever to list it how would anyone suggest I title it?

    1950s Vintage Omega Automatic Watch

List it for $1.00 and let the market make up its mind how much its worth.
