Looking to buy this from an online seller. Interested to see what you guys think. Seems good to be true for $300? Crown is not original and band is claimed to be.
Really? What gives it away? Everything else looks good tho? Is the Omega logo supposed to be boxed in like that on the dial? Debating if $300 if fair.
Its just all wrong. No strap number for one. The cheapest leather strap I know of that Omega sells is $119. $300 for a watch, new buckle and new strap?
The buckle is most likely a fake too. The watch head itself doesn't look that bad, though. IMO it isn't that bad a deal
True. Most of seen have not had the original strap so it was a red flag. I may steer clear unless it goes for a decent price and I slap on my own strap. Added two more pics.
Agreed, and the head and all looks real to you? Was looking at the dial and it looked a bit odd. My question is this is the first one I've seen with the Omega logo with that box around it. Added two more pics.
I think $300 is a good price. Plan on getting it serviced, even if seller says it is. Fake strap=dubious seller.
Thank you, and yeah very suspect. "Without original Crown Movement Cal. 565 original Original Omega Leather Strap The watch works but maybe needs service"
Also most Seamster De Villes came in a monocoque case, not sure if all though. Can't quite read the case number but looks to be Geneve case?
Does this help any? I tried looking up the number that I deduced ( 166 076 or 766 076 ) and did not find anything. Not quite sure what I am looking anyways.
Yes never mind on it being a 6, looks like a 0 comparing it to the other 0. And with that being said, I looked up "166 070 Omega" and only see information about Geneve so I am guessing there is some part-switch aroo going on. Steer clear of this watch?
It is a franken, ref. 166.070 is a Omega Geneve reference, and not a De Ville that used unishell cases normally http://www.naligazone.com/index.php/data-watch/omega/caliber-5/cal-565/md-166-070 Strap and properly also the buckle is fake, i guess its "genuine leather" stamped
Franken means what? And what exactly does this mean in terms of the watches value and whatever else, that it has the wrong case.
Franken means it is Omega parts, but they have been put together from parts from other Omega references. In this case it a dial from a Seamaster De Ville has been put in a Omega Geneve watch. It is up to you if you can live with that it is not correct/original.
Yes, value for a collector is basically down the drain. And since that dial does not belong in that case, looks are totally wrong.
