Identify 60s era DeVille

Hello,
I am new to the forum and trying to find about something about my father’s watch. He gave it to me a few years ago before he died and I never got around to asking him about it. I know that it is original except for the strap, that he bought it in Switzerland circa 1968, and that it is gold filled stainless. I have been unable to find another photo of this watch that is an exact match. The word “automatic” is in all upper case letters. The few other watches I’ve seen with ref 165.008 have lower case letters and a linen dial. The dial looks more like ref 165.0033. My father thought it was a “Swiss market only” watch, but could not remember well. Any help you can give regarding it’s history/provenance would be greatly appreciated. I am not looking to value or sell the watch, but if anyone has information that would value it substantially above the 750USD that other DeVilles seem to be going for, I might need to insure it.
All the best,
John

Lovely looking DeVille you’ve got there. The serial puts it to have been produced in roughly late 1966. The material would be gold capped, not filled. This means that a layer of gold has been set on top of steel. I believe the 711 was one of the thinnest movements Omega ever made.

The reference number only applies to the case. Several dial variants were often used in the same case and it is not uncommon that a specific combination is not searchable on Google but did exist.

I would say 750 USD is about right for value at least if it was to be sold in Europe. Prices seem to be a tad lower in the US.

That’s great info. Thank you! I love this watch. It keeps time even better than my 2254.50. Not bad for a 50+ year old timepiece!
