Hi there, I’m attaching some pictures of my grandfather’s Omega. According to my father, he recalls my grandfather wearing it when he was under the age of 10, so if that’s right then it’s at least 50 years old as I don’t think my grandfather got it new. There are no markings on the back. It seems to still keep good time and I’m going to bring it in to someone to get cleaned and open it up but in the meantime, any guesses as to the model?
    Thanks

Your grandfather was under 10 or your father?

It looks to me like an early 60s Omega of the 121 series powered by a 269 movement. I see a hallmark on a lower lug so probably 14k or 18k gold (possibly 9k if cased in the UK) and in good original condition. That bracelet wants to come off it as they are not good for the lugs. It's a very nice watch and would look superb on a quality tan or black leather strap.

Thanks very much for your insight! I’ll check the hallmark when I get home, and after I get it serviced I plan to replace the strap with a black leather one. I’d like to wear this as my everyday watch - to replace my current 1960s SS constellation which I also love, but I prefer gold jewellery.

Can you point me to the lug with hallmark? I do not see it.

It's on the inside of the lower right lug in the top picture. At least I hope it is a hallmark and not a reflection that happens to look like one.

I’m posting some more pictures of the marks on the lugs. I can barely see them. One looks like a tiny little rectangular shap to me but I don’t see any text in it. The second looks like it could be text but it’s faded and also this watch is pretty grimy!

The strap while I don’t think original to the watch also has a mark on it but can’t really make it out.

Looks a lot like a cal 267 I once had. Love the linen dial. It will help a lot to get the case open!

Oh wow, that is really beautiful! Thanks for posting. I’m shopping around for a black strap too so this gives me a good idea of what it could look like. There’s a watchmaker/repairman here in Toronto that I tried to get in touch with on Friday - will try again Monday as I’m eager to take it in.
