Identification help

Hi, I'm a new member looking for some information on my watch. I inherited this from my father who is the original owner of the watch. He purchased it when he was in the Navy in the 60's. I have never opened the watch, and do not believe that my father ever has it serviced.

Looking to learn what year is and wondering about the band. Both ends have a number 70 in the lug ends, but wondering if I can get additional links for it as it is too small for my wrist. The number on the band clasp is 1503. I would like to wear this watch only on occasion.

Any info would be great! thanks in advance.

Probably a reference 165.020.

You can usually find extra links on eBay. Search Omega BOR (bead of rice) bracelet or use 1503, the reference number marked on the clasp.

Nice heirloom, if you intend to wear it get it serviced, it's way overdue. No need to take it to Omega, any competent watchmaker can service it, preferably one with an Omega parts account.

I suggest sending a $150 offer to this bracelet - it's above the going rate for a bracelet without desirable endlinks - from this bracelet, as far as I see, you can harvest 3 extra links - no other easy way of finding extra links

It's likely a 552 cal. Omega - these are opened from the front - easy to service but find someone the community suggest - so you need to state your area

Edit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-CLAS...pid=5338899135&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1

Thank you for the responses. I am in Northwest Indiana, about 50 miles outside of Chicago. I have not even looked for a watchmaker near me. I have been reading posts on this forum which suggest watchmakers and not jewelers. Here is a picture of the back.

Many of us ship watches to get serviced. You can find watchmaker recommendations here by searching the site with Google. The identifying marks are on the inside of the watch and you can't get at them without special tools and expertise with this particular case design. @X350 XJR is one of the best at identifying these watches from the outside, you won't get any more of a certain answer without opening it up. You are correct that it is from the 60s.

I have a trusted watchmaker in the west suburbs of Chicago. If you are interested in his contact just shoot a message over to me.

IIRC OF member and retired watchmaker @WIcutter is in your general area and has a good recommendation for watchmaker he uses.
