Hello!
I have a week of snowboarding in the Alps to look forward to in mid-February, and will also spend 4 days in Geneva at the front end of the trip. I've never been to Switzerland so looking forward to it.

I will be staying in a boutique hotel in the Old City (without a car) and looking for the best sites/activities to do. Of course I will include the usual top sites:
- St-Pierre Cathedral
- Place du Bourg-de-Four
- Promenade de la Treille
- Patek museum

I was hoping to get some recommendations from Geneva connoisseurs on (1) sites to see, and (2) both casual and formal restaurants.

Thanks OF!

Mike

Get up early one day and take an InterCity train to Zurich, 3 hours, it is a much more interesting city than Geneva and far calmer. Geneva is like being in a beehive, noisy mopeds, bicycles, busses and car traffic at all times; Zurich is calm, with the low rumble of the trams. Exit the train station and walk down the Bahnhoffstrasse to the lake, one of the great streets of the world. You'll see watches and luxury stores galore. Stop in Beyer and visit their museum. Have a nice lunch somewhere, grab the train back to Geneva. A nice day out.

You could also take the train to Bienne (1.75 hr) and see the Omega/Swatch museum, a worthy day trip.

A good place for lunch in Geneva is at the Hotel Bristol, 10 Rue du Mont-Blanc, the Côté Square. Wife and I ate there last June, excellent food and service. But there are tons of good restaurants in Geneva. (The UN and government functionaries and hanger ons on expense account demand good food!)

In my view two days in Geneva will be more than enough, the other two days get out of town.
