Brown or black with a gold buckle.

Beige or tan are also good and bold choices.

Oxblood/cordovan and natural also look great!
Scroll through the "WRUW" thread and you can see them all.

As E says above, black, picking up the color of your hour markers would be a nice choice.

What we think doesn't matter. It's what you like that matters.

Make sure any bright colors don't clash with your attire.

The beauty with straps is that you can have several and change the appearance from more casual to formal at the blink of an eye.
If you aren't accomplished dealing with springbars, buy a quality removal tool and practice on a cheap watch until proficient.
It doesn't take long and if you search "springbar removal" or "changing straps", you'll get tons of good advice.

The strap you have pictured has the exposed style springbar and anyone can change those.

Just make sure you change your selection on the buckle - the one in the advert is silver. I assume the Barton site gives you the option.

I would prefer a dark brown crocodile strap. It should match up nicely with the gold case.

+1 on black or oxblood (dark burgundy) for the same reasons. However, texture and shape are also important. Because of the gold having a dressy feel, you can’t just get one of those fat padded spprty straps with thick seams. You need to find the perfect cross between sporty and elegant.
And for that I would go for a flat (but thick) horween shell cordovan (@jankoxxx here makes some that have thin seams the same color as the leather IIRC- I’ve never bought from him but have held several straps he made for a friend— and everyone’s always super happy with his straps. The ones I saw were much thinner vintage style ones- you’d need to make sure he can make much thicker, 4mm/3mm ones).
