Bought this today F300 1 owner from new bought as a 21st birthday present in 1971 from Manchester

Worn for a few months the sat in a drawer but allways had the battery replaced and had a service

    lovely sunburst grey dial

Up until last year had the box and paperwork but threw them away ::facepalm2::

When he was choosing the watch his dad said get one of them big ones but refused as he thought about winding it every day plus electronic was all the rage

The case is very similar possibly identical to the rare Seamaster chronometer watches from the late 1960's certainly 751's possibly some 564's

Gotta say after being here for three years that Omega did a really good job with their quartz designs.

    These are not quartz

They are electric, yes, but they use a tuning fork mechanism

Omega quartz watches came later, and IMO are not in the same league as these early hummers

Ok, I stand corrected, but who makes them now...anyone?

Dont believe anyone makes tuning fork watches now - the quartz era made these extinct (as i think they cheaper to produce, were more accurate and had better battery life)

but to me a watch is a mechanical instrument, its not and never can be an electronic device, makes me a luddite but I'd never wear or consider an apple watch or similar, these are throw away items. Buy the best mechanical watch and it will last a lifetime.

I love the f300 Constellations. I've had my eye on them for a while. Only a matter of time before i crack and buy one. Something about the steal an the red accent that really catches my eye. f300 Connie and a Pre-Moon Speedy should round out the collection nicely.

Well good for you. A lot of us really love tuning fork watches. They are certainly not throw away items and an important part of horological history

This is a separate and valid point, just not the one I was addressing.
