Question was, which one: seamaster 300m 2018 with co axial movement one vs ck2998.
    Was it that confusing Confucious?

IMHO, I would go with a speedy ck. Because it appeals

If you had asked a question in the OP, Confucius would have answered.

Complete lack of punctuation and uppercase for starters. You'd think that if you are unsure about your next 5k+ luxury purchase, you could maybe take the time to properly write about your doubts. Old school, I know...

Maybe a non- native English speaking person? You may have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

It would be helpful to know a little bit about what you are looking for in a watch and how you plan to use it. Also, would this be the only watch in the group or do you have others?

I'm French... I still use uppercase and punctuation ;) (at least I try, it is the polite thing to do)

"Basic movement"??? So it's better to have something that is known to be more problematic and costlier to fix because it is newer design?

Look, I'll lay it out for you:

    Get a Seamaster.

    And a Speedmaster.

And some vintage Omegas as well.

There is no 'which', only 'all'

Two different omegas. Depends on what you want.

    One is a diver. Other a chrono/tachymeter.

One is automatic. Other is manual wind.

For a special occasion watch, i would get the speedmaster.

The 1861 has been in production for 50 years with only a few small changes. It is considered a work horse and is still used by Russian astronauts outside the spacesuits when they do space walks. It is worn by almost all astronauts outside the spacesuit on launch and landings. It’s the same movement that’s in all Speedmaster professionals since 1968.

The 8800 is a newer movement and is good with modern features like much better anti-magnetic properties. And should be more accurate in general.

Honestly the difference in movements should not be a factor. Go with the one you like better and would wear more.

I currently own 3 watches with a 861/1861/ Lemania1873 movements. A 1976 Speedmaster Professional, a Sinn 903 from 1989, and a Speedmaster Limited edition from last year. The only big differences in production from 1968 are a part changed to plastic in 1971, an 18th jewel in 1989 to replace a bushing, and a finish (color) change in 1991 or so. SO as you can see not huge changes.

If you do not wear it every day the difference between a manual wind, and automatic are minor, except it will take longer to set the automatic as you also have to set the date on it when you wear it as both will need to be reset and wound if they have been sitting unworn. If you wear it every day, winding a watch in the morning takes about 15 seconds and is not a big deal, whereas an automatic will not normally need to be wound and reset every day.

If you are going to only wear occasionally for "special occasions", I vote the CK2998 of the two (unless that special occasion is under water!). The reason is it has no date and no screw down crown. Thus, you don't need to worry about the date or unscrewing the crown every time you want to use it. Just wind it, set the time, and you're off.

Of course, if you want it to already be set and running when you pick it up, get the Seamaster and a winder -- or get a quartz watch.

I think the 8800 will have to be serviced by Omega (or an Omega certified independent). The 1861 may be serviced by any competent independent. Not quite the same cost.

I would say the 2998 is more a dress watch, the sm300 as a really waterproof, tougher sport watch. Two different things, imho.
