I've been watching a lot of these lately, and the premiums paid over forum and even eBay sales are extraordinary. Remember too that the fees for that particular auction house are over 27%, so bid you place is for only for 3/4 of the item and you have to pay the other 1/4 once you've won.

Interesting dial - never seen one like that before.

£1200 plus fee? That is very big money for a 2577, even a black dial as nice and unusual as that. I sincerely hope my pair (with the more mundane silver dials) are worth even half that if I ever come to sell.

Just convince yourself it's a redial and you'll feel much better ;).

It closed at 950. So 1200 is after fees. Haha.

I have never seen this dial before and that's why I think I went over my intended target.

The only defect in that dial is the 0 in the "10". Apart from that... it's such a beauty

Some one please tell me the problems it has and how I'm lucky to not have purchased it. [emoji17]

I guess it depends how much the other bidders wanted it - it only takes two to rocket things to ridiculous prices.

Too big of a premium for that dial if you ask me, the rest of the watch is 'worn'

    Nothing.

Rare dial, and the premium is not surprising.

Does the S of seamaster touch the A of automatic?

I would like to see other examples of it, if you have anyone? In my view it looks correct, but there is something about the style of the dial + hands that looks odd in a 2577, to me at least. The faded "Seamaster" that looks to be added later is, I believe, quite common on early Seamasters.

I have seen examples where the S of the seamaster overlaps with the A of the automatic.

Can't seem to find the photo now. Will check again later

It hasn't been cleaned? Why is the interior of the "0" in 10 and the lower loop of the 8 grungy looking?

Did I say anything about condition? No. I was commenting on originality.
