I like my Seamaster so much that I'm thinking about selling my Tag and buy a second Omega

Omega makes such great watches that I am tempted to sell my Tag Heuer Aquaracer and buy a older Diver Seamaster in black to replace it..

I like the older Seamaster 2500D as a second watch for the following reasons.

It's less expensive than the new Seamaster.
I like having a second watch that is smaller in size than the new one.
There is a big reduction in weight with the older version..
It looks nicer than my Tag Heuer.

I agree with switching to Omega I am not that fond of Tag Heuer styling.

In my personal opinion (tastes can vary) I wholeheartedly support and condone the exchange/switch you are considering.

First have a look at the new Seamaster as well... make sure you won't regret it afterwards!

Ive tried on the new Seamaster twice. I like the way Omega has emulated the patina'd lume from vintage Seamaster's. Definitely on my short list.

I think the Tag is a good watch, and I think the Omega is a great watch.

I already have the new Seamaster in blue and was able to compare the old Seamaster at the AD store with the new one.

I traded my Carrera 1887 Chronograph for my SMP. Basically it was too dressy for me and wasn’t getting any wrist time so was a no brainer really. Also, I’ve kinda fallen out of love with the brand and the direction they’ve gone style-wise recently.

Basically what your suggesting makes sense to me but I’m not sure having too very similar watches from the same brand is what I would do.

    Well, let’s think this through:
    - Omega would definitively be an upgrade over the TAG
    - …but how much would you get for your watch (I.e., is worth selling if you have fond memories with it)?
    - …and lastly, since you already have a Seamaster, do you really need a duplicate??
    - may be consider another Omega?

My opinion, for what it’s worth, is that while the last gen SMPc is a great watch (I have one and love it), it’s too similar to what you have. Because of that, I think ultimately you’d be torn over which to wear. If it has to be a diver, look at the Seamaster 300 master co-axial or try to find one of the older Planet Oceans with the 2500 movement. The Liquidmetal LE is exquisite — if you can find one.

Keep the Tag. You won't get much for it and will just end up losing a reliable watch. I have a similar style one (CN1110) and its my daily that I have banged up hitting stuff for 18 years. Don't let it stop you from getting the Seamaster either. The more the merrier!

    ^ this ^

I was in a very similar position to you, OP, awhile back. I had a Tag Heuer Aquaracer, but decided I really wanted the Omega SMPc. I ended up selling the Aquaracer to "fund" the SMPc (I only got a fraction of the price I paid for the Aquaracer, which, of course, was only a proverbial drop in the bucket when it came to paying for the SMPc). I now wish I had just kept the Aquaracer (as it really was a fun watch) in addition to purchasing the SMPc.

A picture of the Aquaracer shortly before I sold it:

I would keep the Aquaracer and take my time searching for a great deal on another Omega seamaster (if you take your time and search well, the bargain you will get will be almost as much as if you had sold the Aquaracer) just my 2cents
