... and somehow managed to buy a watch in a BIN auction. I wouldn't have believed it was possible if I hadn'f just done it. I'm too embarassed to show you guys which one.

Looks like I can't cancel out, so I'll have to flip it swiftly when it arrives. All I can say is, while not what I'm looking for it could have been worse...

Its got a black dial, so I'll be able to resell it, and it's not from mumbai, which is a relief, but there's no movement photo so it could well be a redialled hello kitty... :(

I genuinely have no idea what it is...

I think it's one of those U.S. cased watches, like my Globemaster. I'm betting the casemaker is Jorrel? (J Marking)

I think it would also have a cal. 490/491 in it like this one, although this one is a redial.

Alam, noticed that. I would normally have steered well clear on that alone. Kyle, thanks - that looks pretty similar. Looks like I could be taking more of a bath than I thought. I'll take pictures when it arrives and let you all know when the auction goes up, just for laughs. If nothing else, I've learnt a lesson...

Jorrel was Superman's father. Jonell is the US case maker. ;)

Superman's father was Jor-El of the house of El.
That's why Superman's Kryptonian name is Kal-El and his cousin Supergirl is Kara Zor-El who is the daughter of Jor-El's brother Zor-El.

Why do I think that I stumbled on an episode of "The Big Bang Theory"? Should we start calling you Prof. Cooper? :p

Actually, I think there's a chance that the dial is original. From the single very poor picture, I see a couple of good signs.

    1. "Swiss" rather than "Swiss Made".
    2. Traces of radium in the recesses of the hour markers.

If the subdial is sunken and sharp (can't see in the photo), then it's probably a good one.

Price is a bit high for what it is, but you might be able to turn a profit...one day.

Hoi your penchant for detail and correctness is a virtue that keeps the rest of us from egotistical bombastic soliloquy . If that makes you a pendant, so be it, accept it graciously ;)

You lot watch way too much TV / read way too many comics. Besides Superman isn't even a good comic... The Phantom on the other hand was a badass.
