Can anyone tell me what they know about this watch bought in 1963? It keeps near perfect time and has been in the box for almost
50 yrs. I inherited this from my dad. He passed away in 1971. Id like to get a
New glass cryst al the acrylic one is scratched.

For the crystal, you can probably get the worst of the scratches out with some Polywatch and 5 minutes of work.

 

American gold case? made in the early 60’s what exactly do you want to know?

 

Your Dad had taste. As @connieseamaster said, polishing the crystal (window) will do wonders for the appearance. Also, you should have the watch serviced by a watchmaker if you want to wear it regularly. Figure a few hundred dollars for that service.

 

Don’t polish the case. It touch the hands or dial.
