·Some time earlier this year, in looking for 36mm 70’s no date Oyster Perpetuals, I stumbled on the 1018 reference. Like a 1002, 1018s have plain bezels (which down plays the whole Rolex thing). I became curious to see how much difference 2mm really was when on the wrist.
I have a couple of nice 34 mm 1002s that I’m very fond of.

But, 1018s are pretty rare. The ones that do appear are typically silver or champagne dialed.
I found this one. It arrived yesterday. Black glossy dial that’s hard to capture in photos.
The 2 mm difference photographed.
On the wrist, I do notice it.
Same size as a 1016 Explorer except the 1016 case is noticeably thicker.
I’d love to see some other 1018s. If you have one, show us!
