I'm still trying to find my way around the world of Omega. I picked this up recently. It's running the 23.4 SC. The screw back case and the movement serial number (9173549 ) lead me to suspect it is a Medicus CK2175. That said, I can't find an exact match and I am concerned about the odd serial number inside the case back. Thoughts?

    TIA...

    Welcome to the forum.

What is it you find odd about the case back markings?

Dial has been poorly refinished and the hands are incorrect as well.

The case back markings seem to be fine and probably correct. The dial is refinished and not in the original pattern, this is why you may not have found a match.

Thank you all -- I appreciate it. Can someone point me to an image showing the proper dial pattern and hands?

There were many different dial and hand combinations offered.

Here is one version, note the fine outer second track which would be typical of any of the various styles offered. Also note the length of the minute and second hands, extending out to the second track.

The Medicus was offered for doctors and scientists who needed to accurately time things, thus the fine second track.

    Hi,
As far as I know Omega used the name Medicus only for the very first model with a 23.4SC in 1936. All 23.4SC are now named Medicus in the Omega Database, but I'm not sure it is correct.
The waterproof line, initially also with a 23.4SC was named Naiad.
In the 1941 Catalog, the ref CK 2175 was simply designated as waterproof, not Medicus, nor Naiad.

Here is the 2175 in the 1943 Catalog :

One of my 2175 has the same hands+dial combination as in the catalog, but the dial is heavily faded :

Nice one with quite unusual hands! Is it a 23.4SC? I already saw those hands on R17.8 calibers but that would be the first time on a 23.4SC.
