Hello team, I could not resist to buy some nice stuff and want to share with you my delight... I found an interesting card box from the 30ies for an incredible $ 1.75 - so this was a bargain I could not resist. This is a box in which pocket watches had been delivered, in this case it´s been pocket watches with cal. 38.5 as readable on the sticker. But the icing on the cake was my success in the bidding war for an Omega "Diplomat" with one of the nicest Art Deco numbers I have come across. So the box is a matching new "home" for my new pocket watch. This pocket watch has an interesting feature, a kind of movable "back bezel" which can be used as a stand - so the pocket watch can be converted into a desk watch. Aren´t these blued Art Deco numbers a sight to behold? enjoy Erich
Lovely piece and as you say a very attractive finish to the numerals which I´ve never seen before. Lucky you found that box too as you now only need to find another 5 watches to fill it
Hi Erich THere was no way and no reason to resist! I'm glad you won the art deco PW. It's great. The box is also nice. Ref 141 is a mystery for me as it was used for different cases (even for a 39 Chro). Here is a 1939 catalog showinf ref 141 with different casebacks, so that you can imagine what was in the box. The Watch that was in the case was a polished one, so probably close to the one in the center of the page (but hands and dial could be very different as you know) :
