Gentlemen: Can you help me find more information about the value of this thing? The particulars are: Case size: 21.5mmX31mm, Thickness: 10mm, Length: 31mm, Lug Width: 16mm Movement Number: 603307 Case Back Number: 1399507 The case back number puts the manufacture date sometime around 1902 or 1903. I've been trying to figure out how to value this thing but I cannot find another one to compare it to. I appreciate any information you can help me with. Thanks!
You are missing a digit on the movement serial number. Looks like 6033779. That would date the watch to 1940. http://www.vintagewatchresources.com/year_identifier.php I think this would be the closest match, but it's hard to tell as the dial has been very poorly repainted: http://www.vintagewatchresources.com/detail.php?watch_id=134 But it is solid 14K gold. gatorcpa
You know, I could not read that last number so I put a question mark on my information sheet. The dial looks . . . . off to me. Can't really put my finger on it. A re-dial may be just the thing to explain that. I did find a similar example without the diamonds for about $60.00. Seems low to me but I don't know much about this brand or its history. Gatorcpa, you are really great! Thanks!
The gold in the case should be around $200 at least. But be careful, most Longines from this era are gold-filled. gatorcpa
I was worried about the gold-filled part but the case back is stamped with 14K and a jeweler told me it was solid. Are the stamps on the case often incorrect? Is there some other indication I should be looking for to be sure?
Longines had subcontractors here in the US make their cases for them. That saved them a ton of import taxes.
True, but the subcontracted cases of this vintage should be marked Longines, OPs one is unmarked. Typical Longines contract case marking from roughly the same date as OPs watch.
