As to which crown to use. Standard, Onion or Turnip. Which one suits the style/aesthetics of the watch? Constructive feedback appreciated.
I would go for 1, but a bit thinner if possible. I believe the larger crowns take too much attention from the lovely dial
I’d go for #1 - the turnip makes the small seconds look off-centre, and while the onion looks good I think the standard is more subtle
What he said. Have a look at Breguet's choice of crowns for their watches; none are very big nor do they take away attention from the dial.
#3 Because I think historically that style of aesthetic fits better with that type of crown. #1 doesn't look like it belongs somehow.
When faced with a difficult decision such as this, one could ponder: "What would the world renown Wandolec Art Studio do?" and then select either the turnip or the onion. In which case, you should choose something else.
for busted arse old hands like yours probably 3. or something like this one off the Ball in the FS Forum
Beautiful watch! The only suggestion I dislike is #2, it seems to throw off the balance. I tend to favor a smaller crown as to not detract from that dial. Another option:
The Turnip screams 'Aviator' to me and this watch looks far to refined, and the Standard is exactly that: standard, plain, nothing special. Is the watch a manual wind? The Onion would certainly be helpful when winding, as well as look good!
Onion! Onion! Onion! (that's a vote for #2 if I didn't make myself clear.) They're cooler than a rooftop vent.
Of those shown, #2 goes best IMO. Is this a 6498? If so let me know and I may have another option for you along the lines of what several have suggested...
