Before I knew anything about Speedmasters. I only knew they were known as the Moon watch. I had purchased a Speedmaster Reduced before that and wanted the "real thing" so to speak. My own research has given me confidence this could be a fine example, but I thought I would throw it to the wolves so to speak and see if you guys have any comments. I got the Extract last year and found it went to an interesting destination....Ethiopia. The band is a 1171/1 and 633 ends. I put on the clear back, which is nice to look at. Crystal is lightly polished but has Omega symbol, though can't be seen in pics. Got a Timegrapher for Christmas, so including a pic of what I think is a very nice regulation(0,-1,+1,0,0,-1,+2), though a bit of BE(1.5)....not too bad for 50years. It all appears right to me, except for the replacement band. Given the values of these are increasing rapidly, I hesitate to wear it (choosing the Reduced instead).
Don't be afraid to wear it! I wear my '67 regularly (although a TinTin is my go-to). Yours appears to have been well used in the past, and another scuff here or there will not detract. Enjoy it!
For instance, I thoroughly enjoyed wearing this 145.012: But am rather apprehensive wearing this one:
A fine and desirable reference and watch! And it's getting more desirabler every day, but don't let that stop you from wearing it!
Hi Bart, Don't worry about wearing this one - sell it to me What a beauty. No matter how seldom, wear in good health. But am rather apprehensive wearing this one:
I encourage both of you to wear your watches every day. There is serious risk to leaving your watch at home or in the safe: METEORITE CRASHES INTO HOUSE IN CONNECTICUT http://www.nytimes.com/1982/11/10/nyregion/meteorite-crashes-into-house-in-connecticut.html A six-pound meteorite about the size of a grapefruit hurtled out of the sky over Wethersfield, Conn., Monday night and tore through the roof of a house and its second- and first-floor ceilings. So I was going to ask what a TinTin is, then I googled it, and still don't get it. What is the origin of the name?
Agreed! Since I don't really wear watches to tell time(smartphone is glued to my other hand)...quite frankly I would prefer to wear a 321 with movement side up! Now you've got me thinking how to do this.....
