I’m being naive: Can I get a turquoise 36mm 126000 from an authorized dealer for list price?

Yeah, yeah. I know. Almost certainly no. But, I’m curious to try.

So, I just sent out a few emails to six somewhat local authorized dealers, asking if they could help me buy one and, if they had a waiting list, how long it might be before I got one. I’ve never bought a new Rolex and I have no relationship with any of them. (Yes, I’m just being silly. I’m blaming the pandemic.)

While it isn’t a Daytona or another sport model, these turquoise dialed OPs have gone a little crazy, more so than either the yellow or red dials, and are selling on the secondary market for double the list. The demand for the 41mm version is even crazier, apparently.

I’m in no rush. I’d love the watch, but I’m not in painful lust (you know what I mean!), so, if, as expected, it doesn’t work out, I’m fine. God help me, I don’t need another watch.

At the list price, I like it a lot.

If there’s any news worth the bytes, I’ll post updates. I’m not holding my breath.

Ok maybe someone from the US would know more on the US market as I am from the UK. But you should try and you can get lucky with an AD.

These really look like they should have been marketed through Tiffany ;)

I would guess these will be referred to as the 'Tiffany dial' Rolex for future collectors.

    So, Strike One already.

Salesman sent email providing no information but inviting me to call him. So, I did.

“At least a year” waiting list because they have “so many commitments” to established customers. And, unless I physically came by their store, he wasn’t even interested in taking my information. Why would I make a gratuitous trip, just to be placed on a twelve month waiting list?

He mentioned that they have a mailing list with over 50k customers. “Good for you,” I thought to myself, “but I’ll never be one.”

I don’t think I’m going to have to worry about coming up with the money. I don’t have a chance in hell.

May be be a touch confusing with the actual Tiffany dials?

Though, confusing nomenclature never stopped nobody... because sure 'nuff folks are already calling it just that

I still marvel at the fact that seven years ago on a long layover, I was able to wander into Wempe at Frankfurt AP, negotiate a bit and wear my New GMT Master II home. How things have changed.

That's why I said it would be referred to as THE Tiffany Dial Rolex. Perhaps I should have clarified it further as The Tiffany Blue Dial Rolex.

Number 2 response was more hopeful (it would have been hard to be less hopeful):

“Due to high demand, we currently do not have this watch available. Would you like for me to reach out should one become available in the near future?” Of course, I told her “Yes, please!”

To prime the pump (I’m sooo ashamed!), I told her that my birthday was in a couple of weeks (which is true) and I attached my favorite photo of my black 1018, just in case I was talking to a vintage fan.

Number 3 response was perfunctory without being completely dismissive:

“This model was recently introduced and we do not have any visibility on availability.” Interesting expression: visibility on availability He did invite me to visit his store, but that was it. No waiting list discussion and no invitation to check back either.

    Just fascinating.

    :D

I won’t argue with a sales person to get them to sell the watch to me. But, I might bat my pretty eyes (so to speak) a little. ::facepalm2::

Dibs is actually a better chance of buying a Rolex than the current waiting lists ;)

Well, I’m hoping to live longer than the typical Rolex waiting list. (Not so sure as to those decade Daytona waiting lists!)
