…. my son in law was thinking of replacing his only watch, a DW quartz, and wasn’t sure what to get.

I offered my intermittently worn Seiko 7s26 and he hasn’t taken it off (metaphorically) since Christmas.

And I actually missed it. So, I’ve bought another on eBay :)

I was expecting something a bit “filthier” from that title  But congratulations on pushing your son in law down this rabbit hole. Next time you see him he has bought three vintage Seikos and will be asking advise on buying his first vintage Omega.

Yep. I loaned my Son a Bell & Ross around 4 years ago and haven't seen it since.
Nothing particularly special but I did like it and i sort of miss it

I grew weary of my son ogling my Max Bill Chronoscope, so I gave it to him as a Christmas present two years ago. I am occasionally tempted to replace it but then i remember that I don’t really miss it.

Exactly how I felt - but a Seiko is easier to source and cheaper to buy and, in line with @Togri v. 2.0 's thinking, I have a 135.041 on standby ;)

Yeah, I bought this watch for my brother's 50th birthday, had it serviced and sent it off. I missed it so much, that I've purchased 4 more since then, and I still have three of them.
