Hi, I´ve been hunting for couple of years decent 166.010. They seem to be relatively rare in Europe and when you happen to find one condition is quite beaten. I am close to pull trigger on this one, but your opinion is highly appreciated . Watch is serviced in April (receipt), runs +5-6s/day. Cal 565, dates 1969. Case is in good condition, polished for sure. Tiny ding on the right bottom lug and behind the case. Crystal is original (replaced in the service), crow in my opinion as well. Dial has quite lovely champagne patina (without those tiny bubbles what you see quite often), but minute marker on 57 is missing and seem to have some dark on that area? (idea how that could happen?) Let´s see if my OCPD can get over that detail. Price is ok, but not bargain: about 1100€ / 1240usd Probably negotiable. I have Omegas BOR with 11 end links waiting for so it´s tempting. What you would do? Get it or wait better one. First world problems. Best regards Tatu
Thanks for the feedback, have to keep my eyes open for a better one. If someone here is planning to sell one, drop me a message.
Missing minute marker was probably moisture funk creeping under the retaining ring and someone tried to clean it up. Case is overpolished and the price is pushing the Chonometer territory. I would wait, they come up on this forum a couple times a year, both 010 and 168.024.
If you want to set your sight high, wait for the 168.024 with cross hair dial- but be ready to pounce when it comes up and have around $1.5-2k ready to roll, but that is the best of the best for that series.
Thanks for your insights. Cross hair version I was not aware of, stunning. To be honest I am not too picky about the model - just wanted to have one for a long time. Prefer the silver/white dials, but even black could go. Hunting is part of the hobby but can be a bit frustrating. Unfortunately my post count does not allow me to post and add WTB section - guess I need to be a bit more active. One crosshair listed, but the case looks almost round - quite bad photos for pro seller btw. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-Omega-Seamaster-Herren-Vintage-Cal-562-Ss-Uhr-Mint-mit-Garantie/303166744361?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160908105057&meid=561b32520f884416a5bf5e925fcc2acc&pid=100675&rk=1&rkt=15&sd=303166744361&itm=303166744361&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:9d957e4a-8abe-11e9-9f49-74dbd180f8fa|parentrq:3c883e8216b0a4b7b68d59ecffee28c2|iid:1Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Here was my experience. Wait and keep looking. You won’t be disappointed. https://omegaforums.net/threads/need-advice-on-authenticity-of-a-seamaster-166-010-cal-565.94295/
Trust me, if you starting getting active in trying to learn as much as you can about your dream watch, you will be surprised at how fast 200 creeps up-and your list of other watches you want will grow...its a double edged sword....you learn more, then you want more.
Dude!! You’re killing me. Why is all your good stuff going elsewhere....wait, are you saying we’re cheap??
Well. To be honest. OF for me is'nt the best place to sell. Although sometimes I have a add here in the sales forum most of the times it's sold somewhere else. Not sure why.
Honestly, there is a whole crop of newbies, building their collections and fishing these ads (myself included), at least give us a crack at them
Chrono 24 has become a scary place as there are some shady sellers on there, I still trust the classified’s here
