Hummer Dilemma

Hi again OF,

I purchased two hummers, 1) Geneve (not working) and 2) De Ville (NOS working).

My plan is to make one nice working hummer for my collection BUT which one should I choose?

I personally prefer the case and dial of the Geneve but the De Ville is NOS and seems a shame to dismantle.

What would you do?

M

Buy a third that's working but you don't like the look of and fix the Geneve. Then sell the NOS to pay for everything.

Have you checked in to finding out what might be involved in making the non-working one actually run? Fix that one, and you have two watches.

And we have a winner!
2 is definitely better than one… and it’s fun getting them fixed… it won’t be that difficult… and all three are reasons we’re all here 😀

Contact Paul at electric-watches, and see if he can fix both of them

I've been asked 450€ to fix a hummer, more than what I payed the hummer itself, so take this cost into account.

Rob in Thailand charges around $250. Don't forget you have 2 different calibres. Day versus Day/date....

Two belters there, neither are suitable to be treated as a donor, and as said above the movements are different anyway and not interchangeable. Either get them both repaired or keep the runner and sell the other one.

Please don't cannibalise such lovely watches.

EDIT another option if you have nobody to repair is to pick up a NOS steel plates day/date movement for the Geneve, they turn up now and again usually from Germany and Italy at around £150. Still better to get the original movement serviced though.

Between a rock and a hard place on this one! As outlined above, it's two different calibers, therefore a swap is off the cards.

I'll enjoy the NOS while I source another donor, or figure out whats wrong with the Geneve.
I've done a little research here: https://electric-watches.co.uk/makers/omega/omega-f300-tuning-fork/

Very interesting. Can anyone recommend a battery?
I led you to Pauls web site earlier in this thread!

344 is the recommended battery for F300’s

please contact Paul at electric watches - he has fixed 2 of mine in the past, and is the go to guy for these

Here is another F300 rescue. They are worth preserving.

The problem with Electric Watches is that he has only open few month a year.

Are there not any other EU options for repair???

I live in Denmark so sending them to US or outside EU union will charge VAT (25%) Custom (3-5%) and fee to postal service of the repair price, so would prefeer repair inside EU (Europe) 😀

No (professional) chance in EU I`m sorry.
