Newbie question, so please feel free to ignore and file in the 'daft' bin.
Just wondering if these ever had screw case backs? Had a look in ziggi's book, and a cruise around the net, but none the wiser.馃榾

In so far as i know they never did. Also, i dont need to see the other side of your watch to know your watch is not a genuine HS8. The case is all wrong. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Hopefully this is a request for some advice before a potential purchase rather than a watch you own.

Many thanks for the advice....it has saved me from possibly making a very costly mistake.
I have just started collecting, and having recently retired from the FAA my interest was sparked by a HS 8 I spotted in a local auction. Unfortunately went well above my pay grade!
Would love to own one but I obviously haven't the knowledge needed to avoid the sharks!馃槵. At least not for a good while yet.
Think I'll have to stick to the mainstream and continue on the search for my first Connie.....ho hum!

The engravings are all wrong on that watch. HS8's do turn up quite often but there are a lot of fake and franken military watches, all the more so since prices went up in the last 5-10 years. A vintage FAA pocket watch might be an affordable memento of your time in that branch of the services?

Many thanks Revo....good advice.
Think I'll keep accruing knowledge and, after I've been around the block a few times, come back to the HS8. There appear to be quite a few pocket watches out there but I would really like something I can wear, albeit occasionally.
