I am looking to buy a used speedmaster off Kijiji (Canadian craigslist). What's the best way to tell if its fake. Do people even fake speedsters? I saw it and person and looked good and had all the papers and warranty cards and box. Will a retailer be willing to look at the watch for me, I don't mind paying a fee.

 

Also the sub dials are close to each other as they should be.
Most replicas use a Chinese movement called ST19 whose sub dials are much more widely spaced.

 

That watch looks real nice and if someone will verify its authenticity you can't go wrong. Watch out for newly introduced uncles fresh back from sunny Thailand offering you premium watches at discount rates.

 

there is a high end watch place here that sells omega. Is it something I can ask them? how do i get them to verify the watch?

 

First time I bought second hand moonwatch, I came to Omega service center with the seller. The watchmaker there just check the serial number in the lug, the dial and weighing with his hand before declaring it is original. When you have looked at tens or hundreds original one it is quick to judge its originality.

 

I would also vote it is original.
