How serviceable is the Valjoux 7730?

    Hi folks,

I have recently taken an interest in the so called "Poor Man Heuer" from Hamilton and the like. Let me tell you now, finding a good example is proving very difficult.

So, I have now turned my attention to watches that are in need of repair etc. If I do end up buying a watch with issues, my question is how easy is it to service the Valjoux 7730? Are parts readily available etc? Do people have any experiences they can share?

Below is a pic of the sort of thing I am chasing!

    Thanks.

7730 is a robust movement, and parts are plentiful.

I am also interested in a vintage chronograph similar to the one you posted. I am also looking for perhaps less desirable/off-brand examples, but it seems those are going up in price too. I had a bid on a reverse panda Wakmann with white/orange hands on eBay but now it is up to to about a grand with 12 hours to go (and just saw it on "Bring a Loupe" on Hodinkee...)

I'm having great trouble finding a Hamilton or Tradition in good condition. I've been looking for weeks and had no luck! :-(

Just wondering to ask what prices I would ask for that movement as was offered breitling vs my Omega PO 2500. Don't want to hijack your post but just for clue is it worth €500? Thanks

I'm looking for one also. Though I won't have the money out for anything but a screaming deal for a while. Just bought another toy.

Good luck looking. I noticed a black face one today in the private sales area.

Thanks for pointing that one out. David kindly offered it to me but it is a white dial I am after.

There looks to be a white dialed panda on the Chronocentric forum right now. Looks nice, but no asking price listed. No connection to seller. Can PM the direct link (I'm sure I can't afford it)...
