    Hi,

Haven’t really seen many of these and was wondering if anyone knew how rare 1861 movement with tritium dial speedys are.

    Thanks in advance

Can you take some closer, high definition pictures of the "T"s next to Swiss Made? Some people have marked those on service dials to artificially raise the value of the watch, but it's usually quite obvious.

I ask because the lume looks a lot like luminova, as all Omega tritium has typically turned some sort of crème brûlée color by now.

I think the T’s are added, based on my enlarging the posted photo:

First it’s easy to determine if its Tritium...

Second there was a cross over period if I remember right of about a year. I’m too lazy to pull the Bible out.

Third looks like the original lume on my -76 which has a green tint under some lighting. Not all Tritium goes yellow.

Is there such a thing as a "rare" Speedmaster with the usual black dial? I'd think "ubiquitous" is the better adjective. ;) :taunt:

Well when something has basically no changes in 48 years the foot notes can be interesting...

Tritium 1861’s, 220 error bezels, -74/76 dials before a minuscule change to a font.

But yeah it’s nutty... then again the Rolex guys are worse, at least ours just get us excited not make us double the price lol.

I had one a few years ago. Its pretty rare but not something that commands a premium. Its just a misprint

Post edited by me, due to it being inaccurate, poorly researched information! ::shy::

    Thankyou for the correction @Kringkily.

This is a modern 145.022 with a 1861 movement. The link referenced above is for the earlier speedmasters during transitions

The cross over with the 3570 took, what, 6-12 months so while they aren’t common, I wouldn’t call them hugely rare. I would ask though, if the lume has stayed the same green colour as the later SL, where is the big tritium advantage? You lose the glow (what little a Speedy has) but don’t gain creamy patina. Just yet anyhow. I guess there is a rarity value but not a big one IMO. I would be tempted to suggest going earlier for patina or later for working lume!

The misprint here is like a 220 on the old Speedy bezels. Not really excited over these and would not pay premium. My two cents.

Not sure I follow. What misprint? Are you guys saying this is a SL dial with Ts?

Love it! :p Robin's egg colored felt - nice idea for somebody who doesn't know how to use post processing correctly.

Per usual, I’m confused. Is this not a t dial 3590.50?

No, it would have a copper coloured 861 movement if it was. The model changed to 3570 with a new bracelet, the 1998 if memory serves and minor cosmetic movement upgrades to 1861 in 1996 and at first used a tritium dial, then in late 1997 the SL dial was introduced so there was a transitional model using Tritiium.
