    Hi Everyone,
For the first time in my life I am wearing watch. Needles to say, I am a total rookie.
I have had my father's watch serviced (it had not been serviced for nearly 30 years) and now I am getting used to have it on my wrist. I am falling in love with it.

From the watchmaker I got the following data:
Omega De Ville, Caliber 711, Model 165.008, SN: 23639609

I am wondering how old it is.
    Can you help me please?
    Thanks in advance.

    Here are a few photos.

Welcome to the forum and first let me say, "Well done" for getting it serviced.

The serial number in the 23,000,000 range would put the production of the movement to about 1966, so the watch would have been assembled somewhere between 1966 and maybe 1968 - they don't always case the movements immediately so you usually allow a couple of years tolerance.

Your first watch is a beauty. Take good care of it like you have already and pass it on to your child. Keep it going! And welcome.

    Thanks, Kimber, I will.

If I may abuse your kindness a bit more...

I was curious to find my watch in Omega database, but had no success.
The closest result was this one from "De Ville" collection: link

However, printed "texts" do not match (No "Seamaster" text and "automatic" is written in capital letters).
When search "Seamaster" or "Seamaster De Ville" collection, the database returns no results for caliber 711.
Are all the data I was provided with (from the watchmaker) seem correct?
I am pretty much sure the dial is original.

Could you find my watch's page in the database please?

    Sorry for bothering you.

The database is incomplete and the picture doesn't always match because the same reference can have different dials.

This should be your watch (you see the reference number is the same as yours with an added zero for padding) http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=14967

which seems to be the one you found. Now, that is a white gold watch, but maybe the same reference came in different materials. To know if it is gold you would have to check the hallmarks inside the case. There may also be a mark on the outside between the lugs, but I don't know if they always did that.

Thanks guys, you are real gems.

Now I am encouraged to service another Omega; this time my mother's one, for the wife. I will get it serviced next week.
This one must be from late sixties, as well.
Could you help me identifying it?
    Have no data, only photos.
