How often do you see ANY nice watch in the wild?

Maybe he felt insulted. What tone of voice did he use when he said Rolex?
That's a good point. Rolex supposedly has 100% brand recognition. So if this guy's watch didn't get recognised as a Rolex from even a metre away, he's probably a bit pissed.

Or, just a common response from a Rolex wearer... I have spotted a number of Submariners in the wild and on several occasions had this exact and awkward interaction

Me: Nice Submariner
Them: It's a Rolex
Me: ...
Me: 👍

Saw an AP Royal Oak recently. Those bracelets really are pretty cool in person.

That's why I don't usually try with Rolex wearers, most aren't into watches at all. I did get that once with someone wearing an IWC Pilot Chrono though so that was 😵‍💫

One of my mates has a genuine Yachtmaster but will happily wear fake designer clothes that he buys on holiday.
I know not everyone is into designer gear but last year when I was in a pub talking to blokes about our watches 2 of them were also into Belstaff.
It started with my missus saying a bloke was looking my BB58.
It's a nice pub and the blokes were getting on like me and didn't look iffy.
In the end he asked me what my watch was because he thought it was a Rolex.
He had a Kermit but didn't have it on that day.His son had a Hublot one.His mate had a Seamaster on and hearing that another bloke came over waving his about.
After that another bloke came over with a Seamaster.
The week after I was talking to another bloke in a different pub and he had a Moonwatch on.
Since then nothing and before that, a Hydroconquest in the lake district and that's it, nothing spotted.

I remember talking to someone and the subject of watches came up. He was telling me that he was apprehensive about wearing his 90s sea dweller and how it was strange that I was dailying a red sub. He also told me he was worried what his co-workers would think. I told him, if it gets awkward, just tell them its fake. lol.

I think I could wear my Air King everyday and no-one would notice

Last night I saw what I first thought was a Grand Seiko, but it was a beautiful Eternamatic from 1962, with great sentimental value to the owner. Much like this one.

Got chatting to the owner at the local tyre dealer as I was getting a tyre repaired. He was sporting a Tag Aquaracer chrono.
Mentioned his 60s Omega that was he’s fathers.

Threw repaired tyre back on and put the spare back under the tray on the 4x4 for free 😉 (usually $25)

I saw an English gent with what I think was a Planet Ocean at a cafe in Alicante, Spain. It was big and black with a diving bezel and lyre lugs, but I could not see a He valve. What else could it have been?

I was at an estate sale last week and was looking at some watches.

Struck up a conversation with another guy who was also looking. When I asked him what he had on his wrist, he said a Submariner and quickly flashed it my way.

I suspect he did not want a watch guy looking too closely.

I live in the Southeast. I'll see Tudors, Casios and Seikos all the time. Rolexes next but the flex culture here is big so I think about 80% of those are fakes.

Saw my first Moonswatch out in the wild today at a theme park in Tampa.
Wonder where they got it because it wasn't around here!

A guy at work had this gigantic watch. Titanium Ball. It made my Mil-Ships look small.

Nice watch!

A colleague at work wore a Rolex Milgauss. I spoke with him, at first he did not realize I was talking about his watch (apparently he did not know the name "Milgauss"). Then he told me it was a present from his (rich) son who believed that his dad was poor and needed an expensive watch. What a disappointment....
P.S. The watch looked nice but it was not my cup of tea.

What you're definition of "high-end"? TBH, I see more people wearing Apple watches than Rolexes or Omega watches. lol I'll see a Casio or Tudor every now and then.
