M meglosMaybe he felt insulted. What tone of voice did he use when he said Rolex?That's a good point. Rolex supposedly has 100% brand recognition. So if this guy's watch didn't get recognised as a Rolex from even a metre away, he's probably a bit pissed.
Or, just a common response from a Rolex wearer... I have spotted a number of Submariners in the wild and on several occasions had this exact and awkward interaction
Me: Nice Submariner
Them: It's a Rolex
Me: ...
Me: 👍
That's why I don't usually try with Rolex wearers, most aren't into watches at all. I did get that once with someone wearing an IWC Pilot Chrono though so that was 😵💫
I remember talking to someone and the subject of watches came up. He was telling me that he was apprehensive about wearing his 90s sea dweller and how it was strange that I was dailying a red sub. He also told me he was worried what his co-workers would think. I told him, if it gets awkward, just tell them its fake. lol.
