As regular members are aware I've recently bought my first Omega of 1956 vintage. Been very happy up to now Have been sat with my netbook for approx 1hr with virtually no wrist/arm movement, looked down at my watch, it had stopped. I've been wearing it all day, surely it shouldn't stop so quickly. I did fully wind it this am as I hadn't worn it for a couple of days.
According to the seller it's just been serviced. Time to worry or not?

If I had a nickel for each time I've seen an eBay seller say "just serviced" when the watch's movement hadn't been touched in years I'd own a Patek. I'd wager that 75% don't know what that term means at all, and half of the others are lying. Get that watch done by a professional!

When you first put the watch on, did you wind it 40 turns before wearing it?

(To dsio) Only about 20 as I was worried about over winding it. Wound it similar before retiring and its fine this morning; maybe I just need to wind it more.

I have seen a definitive answer given elsewhere in the forum for a different calibre.

(To ulackfocus) I get your drift but don't be so harsh:p I intend to combine a service with getting the crown sorted when I return from my holiday (I had the watch delivered to where I'm staying).

Should be around 48-50 hours in theory on a good clean example (from memory), you shouldn't be able to over-wind it as its an automatic, give it the full 40 before wearing

I'd rather be direct and leave no doubt than beat around the bush and have somebody ruin a nice watch. ;) Glad to hear you'll be giving that watch the care it deserves.
