How much is this worth

Hi all. Wondered if you could help.

I was recently gifted this watch after completing my postgrad. Could any one help?

1. What model is this? I think it’s Speedmaster Classic Heritage (also known as Maison Fondee en 1848).

2. How much is it worth?

3. I just called Omega to book a full service but they said it’s probably £750 and takes 40-45 weeks to do (send to Switzerland). Was shocked about the time… is it usually this long?

I have attached a photo of the watch and what I think the spec is. Mine is leather strap not steel bracelet. 18K yellow gold. But feel free to correct any of the information/ specs.

Thanks in advance!

Strange request to seek the value of a gift you’ve just received.

Hi,

I've never seen a speedmaster like that... Most here would say that you should avoid going through Omega for a full service, unless you really are sure you should. You probably have a local watchmaker with an Omega parts account, and if not, you should still ship it to one. It will be less expensive, and you will have more control over what is done.

Are you wanting to wear it? Or insure it? Sell it?

So you are asking us to identify your watch by posting a photo of a different watch?

Ideally like to know to get it insured and if it’s too expensive then I’d probably avoid wearing it to work or if I’m walking home late for safety reasons. Also, if the watch is less than £3K, don’t think I can justify £750-£1K service charge and the year long wait.

No plans to sell. It was my mums so I’m keen to have it and pass it on to my daughter/ granddaughter in the future if they reach a milestone/ significant achievements.

I guess there’s no real reason for asking how much it’s worth- just my curiosity really. But if you were to be gifted / inherited a property, probably want to know it’s value.

and of course thanks to the other posters too- v helpful indeed.

There’s a good article published on the history of this watch being an unusual Speedmaster in 1990. Great learning for me certainly and v interesting indeed.

Fair enough. There were a couple of strange, time only Speedmasters in the 90’s which I assume is the line yours belongs to.

I don’t have any evidence as to the value but my gut says it’s likely around £1500-2000 give or take.

Thanks for sending link to previous queries. Similarly think mine was purchased around 1990.

Rough estimate of £2K is good enough for me. Definitely will cherish it with sentimental value, really pretty and sharp in real life, pictures don’t do justice. Well the studio photo I attached does haha!

Thanks all, have a good evening!

I must caveat that’s my finger in the air, with a major driver being the high gold value right now. Don’t take it as gospel

Cool! Now that I see the link mydeafcat posted, I remember seeing this. You just simply don't think of this though, when you see the branding "speedmaster." Hope you find a good indie watchmaker for service, and I'd plan on 400, and that it gets worn once in a while in good health. Thanks for posting it! If you have any pictures of your actual watch, we always love pics!

I’ve attached a photo of the actual watch. A bit of oxidation on bezel but can be restored hopefully.

That's worth a lot more than the watch you posted, because the case is gold. At least 1k GBP, IMO.

Just FYI the watch reference is 36001020. If you search for this reference you may be able to find what the current market value is.

Just buy a jewellers rouge cloth to clean up the case. Compound on one side. Buffing on the other

One of those strange requests, with a very strange angle of approach.
But, who knows. Have fun with the beautiful watch. And just be grateful to your Mom.
