it works perfectly is a little scratched but still looks really good! also can someone give me some back ground info on this watch?
Looks good! The dial is uncommon. It's a hobnail or waffle dial with date at 6.. The case looks like it's been polished a bit, crown looks replaced..What's the back like?
If you had clear pictures of the movement, case and dial this would aid in a more accurate market price for the watch… The question I pose is…What's it worth to you? I can see some damage to the left lower lug, which for me would mean it was not up to collector standard, since collectors like unpolished and unblemished examples…You could source a better case to make that dial pop... I'll let others chime in now!!
As it sits right now, it might fetch $300 - $475 on eBay because it's dirty and poor pictures never fetch top dollar. Cleaned and serviced (don't polish it any more!) it might go for several hundred more.
No more than $500 USD; need better pics of the dial and the movement. Black waffles are pretty uncommon, but these pics make it hard to determine if this original or redialled. The dagger markers are a nice touch!
This is a mid-'50s vintage Seamaster Calendar with a bumper auto cal 353 movement. I believe the dial and hands are original to the watch, and not convinced the crown is a replacement. Some models cased in the US didn't come with cloverleaf crowns. Original black dials are few and far between; a price north of $1K between collectors would be fair, in my opinion. Cordially, Art
