Do you match the color of your straps to your belt and shoes?
The color of the metal of your bracelet or watch to your belt buckle?
The color of your dial to...? You get the idea. How anal do you get? Or do you not care at all?

I guess as I've never thought about any of the above, I do not care at all!

Nor I! About the only exception might be that I usually fit a black strap to a white watch. If a yellow watch has black trim (markers, hands, etc.) on the dial, I usually fit a black strap. If a yellow watch has no black trim on the dial, I prefer a brown strap, but I also will consider a black one. Matching a watch to my ensemble du jour, nope! I play in a musical group, and while I don't have many watches with "bling", I try to wear something a bit showy when we perform.

This is a good a time as any to come out in the open as an obsessive matcher. Dial colour+strap colour+belt colour+belt buckle colour+shoe colour+shirt colour all come into play for me. I often plan a day's clothing around the watch I want to wear that day. I recently purchased a springbar plier to facilitate my obsession (by making it easier to mix and match). It's sick, I know. But I wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't so enjoyable :)

I will say it's fun to match specific design touches - but generally, you could always put on a watch on a bracelet. Especially if it's an old Speedmaster on a stretch-link, it goes with everything :)

Please elaborate a bit more! I'm so curious about how you connect all these elements

I currently have an 8-watch rotation which gives me a nice range of options, and a few extra straps to play with. Probably 3 out of 4 days I'm wearing a watch with a stainless steel bracelet, which works with pretty much everything clothing-wise. Every watch I own has some stainless steel on it so I only wear belts that have a silvery-coloured buckle. I made a particularly happy discovery one day when I found an old alligator belt (probably faux alligator) hanging deep in my closet that matches one of my watch straps (definitely real, not faux alligator) like it was made for that purpose. I concentrate most on working with strap colour and dial colour.

Addendum: I suppose I ought to put up some examples of attempts to pair watch & shirt

And finally, what I'm wearing today. Probably not the best match but I'm still honeymooning with this watch and was determined to wear it regardless of any other consideration :)

    Double Addendum:
I thought this was a pretty clever watch + strap pairing

Using a springbar plier was not as easy as I had imagined it would be. It's obviously something that will require practice to gain proficiency. My first bracelet change took about 30 min, I got the second one down to about 15 min.

I'm amazed at how far a sprung springbar will fly.

I will not wear a brown strap with black shoes or the reverse.

As for flying springbars, I now do all changes in a plastic bag.

I won't wear a brown strap or gold watch with a grey suit.

If my watch was on leather I used to match it to my belt and shoes but I don't care anymore.

I have a heck of a time matching the bracelet on my Speedy or Seiko to anything!

I do same color watch strap with belt and shoes. However, I almost always wear brown leather shoes to work. My pair of cordovan shoes with cordovan straps, of course!

It's my duty to do so. If I'm wearing black shoes, then the strap on my watch and my belt are black. If the watch is rose gold, then the belt buckle is rose gold and so is my wedding ring. Same goes for brown and yellow gold, or any combination.
