How many of you buy vintage and store it away without servicing

Seems to happen more often than not. There is always a part, case, dial, crystal, or crown missing, or hairspring to attempt to untangle.
Never take the time to search out gaskets to replace either.

Then there is the time it takes to sew up a strap. So the watches tend to sit in flat open boxes. (Usually the ones Harry And David fruit assortments are packed in.) At least that way I can see them all happily smiling from the bottom of the box.

Not until i recently bought a "grail" level vintage Speedmaster and want to prepare it for me to enjoy for the rest of my life. Since it came to me without a service history, I've put it away while I search for the right watchmaker and replenish my watch budget for a proper service.
