Thanks for another great idea @airansun!!!! So, all you sneaky bastards on ΩFs, how many watches have you stealthily added to your collection without your spouse catching on?
"I have no specific recollection of how many watches I may or may not have bought without my wife's knowledge, Senator."
Why do you think we collect Speedmasters? Omega is even re-creating the limited edition Speedmasters so those too look the same. No confusion this way with the spouse, since they all look the same. I call this a win-win-win.
Had three come in at once and hid one in a draw that we store the placemats in and forgot about it for 3-4 years She knows I have a lot but would not know, as friends have asked her. Not that she would care really ( most of my purchases are overtime and on-call $$ earned which I do a lot of ) Came home today from a overtime call out with a wooden bench for the yard made from a beautiful piece of reclaimed wood from an old boat. (So good for a watch also I wood say)
my wife knows about every single watch...sometime she uses her knowledge if there occurs a certain need of diamonds, gold and handbags.
Repurposing an old saying, originally heard regarding bicycles, but could easily substitute cars, cameras, guitars, anything really... "My greatest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell my <watches> for what she thinks I paid for them."
I started buying Seiko and grand Seiko so I could hide the bigger purchases. I told her I swapped a sarb035 that I paid £195 for and Seiko sumo for a Grand Seiko springdrive and a Marinemaster... (they look similar to a non wis). I didn’t say I added cash as well so it’s not so much dishonest more “non disclosure of information that’s not relevant to all parties”. I can’t hide them but sometimes I use her lack of interest by saying “I didn’t tell you because you don’t care remember?”
Well I have been honest but she doesn't beleive me, says everything about our relationship . My watchmaker has implored to make a list with values in case I kick off !
