This is mine. M Series with serial number at lugs and rehaut.

Stumbled on it in 2011 when I went to look at the 116610LV which I didn't much care for. The salesman said "wait a minute you might like this one". I guess they had brought it in from the West Coast for a customer but he bought a 116610LV Hulk. M Series- Paid $5198 NIB out the door as it was Jared's policy not to take price increases on discontinued models.

Maxi Dial, Original Slim Case/Lugs just perfection in my opinion. I can not warm up to the new submariner super cases.

A couple shots...love to hear the story of yours. BTW I hate the knick name Kermit. LOL DSC_0729.jpg View attachment 491198 d0b733ffa8ff53d7b8959225a02940f2.jpg

The same thing, mine was bought new in 2009 and the retail at the time was around 4.5k euros if I recall correctly...

Years ago, I was looking at one of these as my first proper watch purchase and had my brother tagging along with me while on a family Christmas vacation in Cabo. I want to say I could have bought one for a little over $4K at the time. I didn't pull the trigger at the time, but about 3 months later my brother buys one. I never had a desire to get one after that. I then turned to Omegas and haven't looked back. It's been a slippery slope though!

I always knew I liked your brother better...LOL But I get it....They just weren't that "hot" back then. I liked it b/c of the maxi dial and the older case size...the green bezel honestly I had to warm up to.

I actually had a black bezel on it for about 3 weeks. Then I realized that I was a LV purist LOL and didn't want to wear a franken. I actually had someone notice it and think it was a fake b/c of the hour marker sizes, people weren't use to seeing it as this was the first Sub with the larger hour markers (Yacht-Master first overall).

I’ve come in later to the game than you guys. I bought a 2004 f-serial mid last year (not a flat 4 unfortunately) for a reasonable price. I love the mix of old case and new dial and the green is to die for.

Since buying it, I have sold my other 2 Rolexes as I just don’t like the maxi case look now as in comparison I think they look a bit clunky (no offence to anyone obviously).

The only 2 other Rolexes I will consider are a 16710 or a Daytona. But I won’t pay the premium for the Daytona and in all honesty I figure the gmt may be a bit redundant with the sub LV already in the stable. So it’s the sub and omega’s for me currently.....

    A few pics.

i know a number of owners but like me, the piece does not get worn very often: I used to wear it with a black insert but got bored with swapping it around:

I really want an LV and let two or three slip through the net a couple of years ago just before the price started to go up. Still looking!

although not correct, these watches look so good with a black bezel. here's hoping Rolex slims the cases back down and keeps the maxi dials.

These went through at least V series. That was the first watch I ever bought. Got tired of the green after a few weeks though :(

There was a thread on it here actually a few years back. Pretty conclusive proof out of Singapore I believe.

Bought mine at about 7500 about a year back from an owner that barely wore it. Perfect bezel insert. Unpolished. Case back sticker still intact. But because it's in such a good condition I'm not wearing it as much as I'd like to.
