    Hi All

How is it possible that my Speedy with a serial No putting it at or around 1985 have a 1861 movement with the SAME serial No as the case?.

Would it be the watch was returned to Omega at some time and they fitted the newer movement and stamped the case No on the 1861 movement?.

    Thanks

I have a Speedy Pro 145.002 serial No 48 mil so going by a serial No database puts it at or around 1985,so it should have an cal 861,BUT mine has the cal 1861,and yet another BUT!,the case serial No and the movement serial No are the same!.
So what is going on here?,a cal 1861 would not have been around to be fitted in a speedy from 1985.......

    So how is this possible?.

    Cheers

Do you have box and stamped AD paperwork? Not much help on serial numbers sounds odd.

Not sure I see a case number stamped on that watch. Do you have a better picture?

No box or papers, the watch is genuine.I just can't understand how the case and movement have the same serial numbers and yet the case dates it to 85 when the movement is from 10 or so years later!,but having the same serial number as the case......

I replied to the first thread and I'll reply here: I don't see the number stamped on the case. Am I missing it?

Wouldn't have thought Omega would do this.

does the cal.861 bridge work on a 1861? I guess it is possible that Omega swapped out the movement at service and put the original bridge in, or that the swapped the movement, and sent the old movement back with the watch, and the owner had the 861 bridge with the serial installed.

I have no idea if this is even possible or is just ravings a lunatic...

The photo wasn't taken for the purposes of this question, and so the movement and case No's were not both made clear,it was strictly a photo of the movement only for other reasons.

This did cross my mind too,not compared the 861/1861 bridge for exact comparison, are the two made of the same metal I've the 1861 is rhodium plated the 861 not,or was it just certain parts that were plated on the 1861?.

I know I have some movements on ebay where the bridge and movement did not match up. Who knows...

And I rather think that we're some back street watchmaker having done some work on the movement and changed it,he may be the guy that went so far as changing the bridge too thus marrying up the serial No's.Its only as we have become more aware of what a watch should be and values of collectable watches that we scrutinise them.
