How is Omega's brand strength these days?

I have been out of the Omega collecting scene for many years. Are Omega's recent developments improving or decreasing their competitive edge and brand strength with the likes of Rolex? I have always known the vintage Omega community to be very strong. However, can the same be said of Omega's modern pieces? Do Omega's modern pieces attract a strong cult following?

I thought Cartier overtook Omega for second place a couple of years ago. Either way, Omega is one of the biggest players in the Swiss luxury watch market.
