I like the price/condition/look of this '79 Speedie FS, but it has the wrong seconds hand.

How hard would it be to find a non-green period correct seconds hand for this one? How much should I expect to pay?

 

Should be fairly easy to find, and even a brand new one can be made to match.

I have the same dilemma with my latest purchase. I found some on ebay the whole set of hands including the subdial hands costs abt $200.

 

On second thought, and looking more closely at the other hands on this example, only the two minute hands appear acceptable. The central minute looks to have some errant white paint where lume should be, and the others are chipped!

But it's good to know that replacements can be had...

 

I have not done it and so am not speaking from personal experience, but there are shops who can repaint a hand to match. Tedious and perhaps not cheap.

 

You can find them on cousinsuk or ofrei, depending where are you based

 

I stash hands I find these days, just in case.
