I have just had the opportunity to pick up this vintage Constellation. The owner claims it is all original and has just had a service. What do you guys think? Is the dial all original? Is the case unpolished? Are all of the parts correct? And if possible, what would be a good ballpark price? Thank you! 1.JPG 2.JPG 3.JPG 4.JPG

Some patina , but not a bad look. I would replace that crown. Even the current Omega replacement model would look better than that.

Yep, answered on the other forum but it's the same as everyone else here - good find.

I'd say that's pretty much market price for this watch in the condition it is in. If the dial was cleaner it would have fetched a bit more but overall not a bad buy.

I think the crown is original, but well worn. Up to you whether to replace, but I'd save the old one.

    Nice purchase,

Evan, you sure about that? This is not a 10 sided crown, rather a deep notched knurled crown.

My 14381 came with an original, albeit worn, pink gold decagonal crown.
Here is a 14393 from the data base

I have a feeling they're original (like the clover crowns on the 504s), but not sure why there why they would send them out with 2 different styles of crowns. ::confused2:: There are many examples of 14393s and 14381s with this style as well. Hmm...

I don't agree, I think they are service replacements. These did not take the older large decagon and the narrow ones may have run out during common servicing. But who really knows with Omega, I have seen this particular knurled crown on these before several time, but I just think this the best fit replacement from Omega.

My 167.005 has a similar crown. Don't know if it is really original, could be a service replacement as you say.

It's just that I've seen so many examples with this style crown, I can't believe they are all replacements.

I've always said that the 10-sider is preferable, but I do think some early 1960's Constellations came from Omega with the scalloped crowns.

    Take care,

I reckon Gator it could well be original, although maybe the crown seems to be a tad small for the recess?

I know some earlier Constellations and Globemasters had non 'standard' crown, often the bowler hat crown, and of course we see the Seamaster clover leaf on some Constellations, but this US ad for a 14393 from the same period indicates that the crown on OPs watch could well be original.

So while it is fair to state that the 'standard' crown for a Constellation is the decagonal, particularly for the Swiss international collection, some rather wobbly things happened with crowns on US imports. I don;t think the crown looks all that nice with the design, but, hey, maybe they ran out of decagonals.
