The listing states the dial is "white re-done." Are you looking for opinions on the quality of the refinish? Or were you questioning originality, and you just missed the description?

I had indeed missed that in the description, sorry, thanks for pointing it out! Thanks for the link to the existing thread on that auction too.

No picture of the movement, though . . . but a very good price for 18k.

Well in my defense I was totally new to PPs at the time (yes I know but you've got to start at some point) and asked a question about the movement...and it was gone :-( On the other hand I don't like watches without the date so I'm "justifying" it like that ;-)

If money were no object, I suppose the best PP to get would be the Deluxe with the gold dial?

Well, if you want totally over-the-top bling you need the Constellation Grande Luxe with the stepped dial and the hooded lugs in solid 18k. This is conspicuous ostentation with a capital :D

I could be a total geek but when the heavy hitters on here make a comment I always look at my book to see what they are saying. It's like sounding out what is wrong with a puzzle. Good job helping this guy out.

Hands too long. Seconds hand should not be black or blue. Dial is a known forgery. At first glance, the case and movement look OK.

However, given the state of the rest of the watch, who knows?

    Webvan,
No offense intended. I think by finding that example you are already make a very very good start. If you got it at the stated ending price ( EURO 990 or ~USD 1300) you got incredible bargain. That is at least worth USD 2500 - 3000 piece.

However when you mentioned that it stopped abruptly, then my suspicion, somebody make an offer that the seller could not refuse and he saved big ebay commision. SO I guess that pie pan changed hand at or near market price. (That's another 'justifying' the loss and stop kicking ourselves)

If money were no object John's statement would be right, the Connie Grand Luxe Pie Pan is highly desirable although I would add Pink Gold and brick bracelet factors. Our member Sumerian bought two last April, IIRC USD 13,500 for the pink gold and USD 10,800 for the yellow gold :

In the mean time I am satisfied enough with my Deluxe Pink Gold:

Thanks, actually I think the guy just used the BIN feature...but again, who knows!

I don't think I'd go for the 18k+bracelet (besides the price problem!) because I like to think that I'll be able to wear a watch I'm buying...even though that may not always be the case in reality (Grin...) and I don't see myself pulling off an 18k+bracelet ;-)
