I have almost 40 watches now. I am trying to figure out the best way to store the vintage Omegas with leather straps. Most cases use some kind of pillow or cuff in where the band has to be buckled and closed. I prefer to keep the leather watch straps flat. I have the case in the middle and it is ok. I just wish it held 16 watches like it holds the 8 on the top. Any one try the first case? I think I will go with the third but I will need a least 5 or 6 of them. Wonder how long the elastic lasts on these?

I try to keep the collection organized and in one area. No more than 10 watches/drawer...

    Hi,
I will use this thread to ask you about a way you record services' history and works done on your watches. Any advices on how do you keep the records? Callendar, walet with card for each watch or a simple folder with all the bills and yellow pages with the remarks.

I lost control over mechanisms' services, batteries and other parts beeing replaced... Please advice.

    Regards,
    Piotr

I use a spreadsheet that notes purchase date, who from, and any extras fitted or carried out. It also notes sold, who to, serial numbers and email contacts etc.

+1 but a few less columns - mostly because I service my cheaper watches myself.

    It varies by day.

Or sometimes just laying around. But then they go missing and I suspect this is what you want to avoid. I usually find them, but my pebble watch has been missing for about a year.

I love the Pelican case idea guys, I've had a 1520 Pelican case sitting around for 15 years with no use for it, until now. It's a little too big for watches, but hey, yet another excuse to buy more watches right? I keep my modest collection in a standard wood display box, and when I travel, I use a standard Omega travel case if I'm only taking 1 or 2 extra, and if more than that a rollup pouch.

It isn't elegant, but it is a solution for fitting the maximum number of watches into a small safe in the tropics...

Yep, most are always in the bank safety deposit box - I only keep 2-3 at home at any one stage - a typical week would be - a nice shiny brand new one, a vintage speedy pro, mark 4.5 or a connie, and a Omega f300 Hz beater

    Great thread!

It's nice to see others storage methods.

I have "30-something" vintage watches and they are stowed away much the same as timjohn's, in the small zip lock bags and placed into mesh accessory compartments that hang on the inside of the door of the gun safe.

Mine are locked away, that's all I"m going to say about that.

For those storing in zip locks, do you have any concerns about moisture getting trapped in? You might want to toss a small desiccant packet in with each one, just sayin'.

I live literally round the corner from my bank so most live in there (very warmly wrapped as I have a lot of quartz), I keep 1 or 2 at home with me at anyone time, which is a shame because I have some very cool ex medical display cases, which at the moment are housing my humble Omega clocks!

Its a sad state of affairs but with the amount of people I know personally who have lost their entire collections it's just not 'safe' to have them at home for me!
