In terms of tightness & snugness? I just cannot stand a snug band. Every watch I own save one has a loose band - whether it be a leather strap, rubber, or metal. The rubber bands are probably the tightest, but I still like at least a finger-width of room under the band. Most of my watches are metal bracelets and I like to be able to rotate the entire watch around my wrist. It just feels too confining if they're tight. The one exception? The Fitbit watch I wear as it has a heart rate monitor built into it and it doesn't work well if loose. I dunno, that's just me. I like 'em loose. What say the hive?
The only watch bracelets I currently have are 1039 stretch-link bracelets - I wear them such that, depending on humidity / hydration, they go from just nicely snug to just the slightest bit loose. I don't like my watch slipping up / down or around my wrist, so I'm willing to deal with minor marks after taking them off...
I wear both straps and bracelets loose, and anyone who doesn't is arguably making a big mistake. Of course that argument is neither strong, nor substantial, so there's no need to lose a significant amount of sleep over it.
I like them a little snug. I don't like them when they are loose enough that the watch can rotate on my wrist; that is especially a PITA when I am at work. One reason I don't wear my PO is the bracelet is too loose (I need to shorten one day when I can get some time uninterupted by the little one).
I wear my watches so they stay put. I hate having it slide down or twist. Luckily, I have a wrist size and shape that lends to a comfortable fit. I've haven't had a bracelet or strap that couldn't be adjusted to my liking yet. Knock on wood...
I have pretty skinny wrists, but regardless, I prefer to have a little slack. Not enough for the watch to spin round, but not tight enough to completely stay put. As someone mentioned, the 'Goldilocks'.
I wear mine above the wrist bone, so loose enough to not leave a mark but snug enough not to slide down. Usually can slide a pencil between bracelet and skin.

On a bear's wrist? Shazam! I can count on one hand the amount of watches that I've left the metal bracelet on during my entire life........ Omega AT Skyfall An oval funky late 70's Bulova A Movado with an integrated mesh 14K bracelet (so it couldn't be removed even if I wanted too, unless I took a hacksaw to it) A vintage Omega (Seamaster? Constellation?) with a Beads of Rice. Even took the brick bracelet off the IWC Spitfire and the Pilot's bracelet off the Breitling Chrono Cockpit.
