How do you know a Tritium dial isn't just new with T markings?

How easy wouldn't it be for someone to paint two big T on each side of the dial .And sell as Tritium dial . No i am not thinking of doing it . Just wonder if their is such dial out there ? If you don't now how a Tritium index looks like how would you know what to look for ?

Changed the title of the thread to make it more accurate and less concerning to people :coffee:

If you want it to be something else that's cool too it just sounded a bit odd initially.

But yea tritium won't glow, luminova will, tritium is a different colour, and the dial tends to look newer, there'd be a lot of obvious differences.

The only way would be to remove the new superluminova and have a relume artist apply vintage looking lume paste with no luminova but with a little zinc sulfide for that light reaction with no sustained glow .... But then you would likely see some marks and residue under a loupe. Plus the T wouldn't look right..... It wouldn't be worth the effort and money and trouble to ruin a perfectly good service dial and even then people would be able to tell the difference.

Thru the 145.022-71, most vintage Speedmaster dials were stepped. Since then they are flat. Easy to notice. Service dials are flat

There are Rolex (service) dials which are not Tritium but are marked as such by the factory.
    I think 1665 and maybe 1675 refs
