    Hello everyone,

I did a search, but can’t find anything. How do you regularly clean your vintage Omega from the daily grime that eventually accumulates?

I recently bought an ultrasonic cleaner for the bracelet, but certainly not for the watch head.

My modern watches, I use a watch cleaning spray I bought online and rinse under running water.

Can I do the same for my regularly serviced 145.012-67 Speedy?

Here’s couple of pics of the watch. Let me know your thoughts.

Speedmasters aren't at all water resistant as far as I am aware. I simply run over my watches with a microfibre cloth every once in a blue moon. I can't imagine why anyone needs to do this 'regularly'?

Chamois leather for just day to day grime.

Edit to add: just reassembling this now, it's a pocket watch I brought back from the shop on Sunday. Some cack-handed customer dropped it, causing the subdial hand to come off, After re-attaching I took advantage of having the case apart to give it a good clean and this is what it looks like after a rub with a cape cod cloth and a chamois:

Thanks, I live in a tropical climate where there’s lots of sweating involved. I also wear it on a daily basis and the restaurant environment the Speedy endures includes grease and other food ingredients. That’s why it needs slightly more regular cleaning.

You should be able to easily remove almost everything from the case if you slightly dampen a microfibre cloth (for example with a very gentle spry cleaner..).
Enjoy your fantastic Speedy..and please avoid fluent water!
    Cheers
    :)

It's really quite run of the mill but they're cheap, easily repaired and make a effective little desk clock. They're quite popular for people to buy with these stands.

Back to your question, though, got some good chamois! They're too soft to scratch anything and remove all marks. Their only downside is they're more expensive than man-made cloths and they don't like getting wet.

Don't forget to run them under the buffing wheel afterwards to give them that fresh shine look

In that kind of work environment I'd just wear something cheap that works. I wouldn't risk damaging a valuable Speedie, I'd save it for other occasions.

I’ve tried, but I’m so in love with my Speedy. Guess if it's though enough for NASA, what’s a bit of restaurant.

Buffing compounds, brillo pads, Dremel tool aside, I would take it to the Omega Botique for cleaning. The San Diego botique has very knowledgeable staff that are so incredibly helpful. They have cleaned numerous Omega watches for me, adjusted bracelets, and ordered parts. All Omega botiques offer this service free of charge.

This is the oldest group shot pic in my phone. Still have the two JLCs. This pic has nothing to do with the original post. Just thought it made sense to have a watch pic.

Jesus. Omega's QC is really dropping. Not only have they installed the dial upside down on your Seamaster but the crown's on the wrong side too.

I just get them serviced every two months! They come back nice and clean. That's completely normal, right?

Just stick your arm out the window next time you go through a car wash. But make sure it's a touchless car wash, you don't want to scratch the case.
