    Hello,
How can a seller manage to reach this price for a caliber 600 ?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291999574606Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

I'm not saying the watch isn't nice but almost 1000 euro for a polished case and a redial it is quite expensive.

    What do you think ?

Good photos, and bidders are not Omega Forum members.

    See above.

I think people tend to forget this. 99% of the overpriced watches on eBay will sell to people who are NOT omegaforums members. These people will get what they feel are beautiful watches, and will wear them happily for years.

There's also Don Draper, even though its not a De Ville, black dial Omega dress watches whether original or not have been popular among the under 25, yet wishes he were living in the 1960s investment banking intern bracket.

And I say this as an under 30 who wishes he were living in the 1970s since the music was better.

Could be true:cautious:. I suspect 50% of our albums are from '67 to '77. I'm surprised at the number of people In their 20s and 30s who love the whole early seventies music. Nothing quite like putting 'Electric Warrior', 'Slade Alive', 'Black Sabbath', ' Made in Japan', 'Hunky Dory', 'One more from the road' or 'Jailbreak' on at the time, to name a few.... Of course, there were other types of music but hey, I was a young man/boy:D

Easy to say you had to be there but it seems to have lived on - not sure exactly why but, why not! Mind you, there were a few problems then that we neglect to mention these days...

    Cheers, Chris

while I agree the buyer overpaid, there is one way to look at the $1k and it could make sense (for some):

How much would you have to pay for a similar, classic under the radar 3 hand watch from Omega TODAY? ... 2 or 3k?

so 1k might not sound soo expensive anymore ...

Those were the days it was a guitar or drum solo in a song not a rapper solo.

Was listening to this the other day with a young guy from work. He had never heard it before and bought the album that day

I've overpaid for things before just depends on how bad I want em. As a matter of fact I just overpaid for a Seamaster a few weeks ago! Still happily wearing it until James himself comes and takes it back.

I guess pics and presentation do it for me.

    I will say I wasn't a member of this forum! :)

    My mistake haha

Man there's so much good stuff I really think the 70s was the best era Sabbath was what got me started into that, then Queen, Bowie (though he was around in the 60s too, 70s onward was better) and so much more. So many genres were invented then, and the artists had such incredible longevity in spite of the drugs. When Bowie passed I remember seeing all the sad posts on Facebook, more than I'd seen for any significant figure's passing and it was nearly all people in their 20s and 30s that were posting about how much they loved him, what an incredible legacy.

Easy to see where you grew up! That's the thing about 70s nostalgia, in retrospect we cherry-pick the good bits and forget the endless sea of glam rock, disco, dire commercial pop and tuneless punk rock they were floating in. Would I go back there? No I wouldn't, it was crap.

And I think it was always so. 1967: Hendrix, The Beatles, Cream, Pink Floyd, the hippy movement.... Biggest seller (1 and 2) in UK was Englebert...

I think Hunky Dory was 1973. Biggest seller, Dawn. Now you'll know the song and it'll be stuck in your head all day. Sorry.

I thought it was a good time but, I was a teenager!

    Cheers, Chris

If you look at the bid history, it is what it is. One bidder seemed to have the hots for it and one lone 2 feedback bidder got him to take a ride up the price ladder with him..:cautious:
