To be offbeat.

Bow or neck ties...Interesting, gorgeous, tacky, whatever.

To start, here is my little ca. 1990s Missoni collection. The second from the bottom was from Barney's in Chicago, a gift from my stepmom about 25 years ago. The others I got off the 'bay a couple of years ago (they were much cheaper...).

 

What do you do with them?

 

I don't wear a tie everyday to work, but maybe a couple days a week. I sort of got out of the habit a few years ago. Also occasionally bow ties. Being a doc, I sort of feel compelled to at least a little. But I don't see patients.

 

Being in IT / engineering it's a bit easier for me to never wear a tie but here in Australia with the heat and humidity even in a business setting top button is usually left undone.

My dad though loves collecting ties from obscure clubs like overseas yacht clubs, polo clubs, auto racing clubs etc and has the most enormous collection yet wears the same boring 2-3 because he doesn't want to get his good ones damaged or stained, go figure

 

Both are kind of sad

 

He sounds like a watch collector

 

I'd love to see some of those

 

Maybe something a little more blue
