Not typically a fan, but I love that one (and I'll tell you why).
Back in the late 80's, an auction house in Oakland (Harvey Clar's for any Oakland, California locals) used to auction estate jewelry (among other stuff like furniture and art). I used to buy bags of watches for $20-$30 USD. The bags typically contained 3 to 5 examples, usually the same make, and usually running. Brands I remember include Zodiac, Wittnauer, Elgin, the cheap stuff. One bag contained this Tissot model.
I always wanted it repaired and running, but the movement was genuinely FUBAR, missing parts, etc. Now that I have the money, I've lost interest in that dream. As you can imagine, the value of the watch has increased substantially in the last 25+ years, and finding a cheap donor is a challenge I don't want to entertain now.
Sorry to ramble, but I really like that watch! Congrats.
I'll have to see what remains of mine. I know it's in pieces, and I think I know where it's at, but at this hour I should be asleep like the rest of the household...
(P.S. Hope all is well with "Ed"!)
